Artist Statement

The starting point of my practice is the examination of interfaces — boundaries, paths, intersections — in which temporal feedback, non-simultaneities, and heterotopias occur.
Processes of form-building and form-finding are of twofold interest to me:
as a social phenomena as well as an artistic method.

The raw materials of my work are the personal experience of “coming into contact” with another, the contingence of object and reflection, and one’s own body as a place where (political) events can only be experienced as an individual space of resonance.
The condition for this is the willingness to physically confront a topic in such a way that all possible forms of reception can be utilized.

The aim of my work is the preservation, consolidation, and retranslation of intimate everyday moments in photographs, videos, performances, installations, textiles, and objets trouvés. My work always involves the visualization of hidden contexts through rearrangement. The adequate medium and its use are often found after years of inquiry.
Each of my projects is inherently open-ended.

My thematic priorities are the interweaving of political events and individual experiential space, the transformation of communication through the media, and the expression of surfaces in organic, social, and societal systems.

Ausgangspunkt meiner Arbeit ist die Auseinandersetzung mit Schnittstellen – Grenzen, Wegen, Kreuzungen –, an denen sich zeitliche Rückkopplungen, Ungleichzeitigkeiten, Heterotopien austragen. Prozesse der Aus-Formung und Form-Findung sind dabei von zweifachem Interesse für mich: als gesellschaftliche Phänomene und als künstlerische Methode.

Ausgangsmaterial ist die eigene Erfahrung des In-Kontakt-Tretens, die Berührung von Objekt und Reflexion, der eigene Körper als Ort, an dem (politische) Ereignisse als individueller Resonanzraum erst erfahrbar werden. Bedingung hierfür ist die Bereitschaft, sich einem Thema auch körperlich so auszusetzen, dass alle verfügbaren Rezeptionsmöglichkeiten dafür aufgewendet werden können.

Ziel meiner Arbeit ist die Konservierung, Verdichtung und Rückübersetzung intimer Alltagsmomente in Fotografien, Videos, Performances, Installationen, Textilien sowie Objets trouvés. Immer geht es um die Sichtbarmachung verborgener Kontexte durch Neuanordnung. Das adäquate Medium und seine Verwendung finden sich oft erst nach jahrelanger Auseinandersetzung. Jedes Projekt ist naturgemäß ergebnisoffen.

Thematische Schwerpunkte sind:
Die Verflechtung von politischem Geschehen und individuellem Erfahrungsraum.
Die Transformation unserer Kommunikation durch Medien.
Die Ausprägung von Oberflächen in organischen, sozialen, gesellschaftlichen Systemen.
