Two days after the presidential election.

“… my body – my choice … not my president … black lives matter … muslim rights are human rights … pussy grabs back … your face is ugly, your hands are small – we don’t build your fucking wall… “

The sound installation of Vera Drebusch produces a soundscape of protest. For her work Drebusch used recordings of chantings that she collected during a march in front of the Trump Tower in New York City two days after the 2016 presidential elections. The chantings appear as an ungraspable echo of marginalized voices, which hint to the universality of resistance – precarious in their ephemerality, but proving constancy as ever repeating sounds through history.

Zwei Tage nach den Präsidentschaftswahlen.

Die Soundinstallation von Vera Drebusch generiert eine Klanglandschaft aus Protest. In ihrer Arbeit verwendet Drebusch Aufnahmen von skandierten Parolen, die sie zwei Tage nach der Präsidentschaftswahl 2016 während einer Demonstration vor dem New Yorker Trump Tower gesammelt hat. Die Parolen stehen als ein unfassbarer Widerhall der marginalisierten Stimmen, die auf die Universalität des Widerstands anspielen. Prekär in ihrer Vergänglichkeit, beweisen sie sich aber als konstant durch ihre immer wiederholenden Töne im Laufe der Geschichte.
